The bike portion is held on the roads at JU and on a portion of University Blvd.
The roads are closed to ALL vehicular traffic during the race. Almost any kind of bicycle is allowed: BMX, beach cruiser, gears, no gears, but no tricycles or training wheels.
A bicycle helmet, buckled, is required at all times when on your bike.
* T1 (transition from swim to bike) – When you get on your bike, put down your goggles and swim cap, put on your shorts and/or shirt if you are using one, put on your socks (if you are using them) and shoes, PUT ON AND BUCKLE YOUR HELMET BEFORE YOU TOUCH YOUR BIKE!!!
This is a very strict rule that your helmet must be on and buckled from the time you move your bike from transition until the time you re-enter after your bike portion. Failure to follow this rule could result in a DQ (disqualification).
Also, you ARE NOT allowed to mount (ride) your bike in transition. You must run your bike out of transition before you get on.
Ride on the right hand side of the road at all times. If you need to pass someone, pass on the left. Be very cautious of other riders. Pay attention! Dismount your bike BEFORE entering transition.
Distances:
Juniors (under 10 years) 3 miles
Seniors (11-15 years) 6 miles
